Divorcing Reality: The Novel

This is a crime-mystery-tragi-comic-whodunit if such a genre exists. Otherwise, it is just a novel.

The novel is being written on the internet so that you can interact with it. It is, in that sense, a collaborative novel. You can send me comments that may not only change the future direction of the novel but may also cause me to rewrite or amend previous chapters.

Divorcing Reality: The Law

I am a lawyer. This is a dreadful admission to have to make. Everyone (and, by that, I mean every single person on the planet) hates lawyers. Well, there are exceptions. The exceptions are those people whose cases you win. Luckily, I have a good win rate.

My legal and other (e.g. political) commentary is largely confined to the Blog. So go there if you must but only if you must.

You may find that "divorcing" and "reality" are words that combine well together there.

Divorcing Reality: The Blog

The blog is not solely about the law. It is a blog, however. There are dedicated professionals like Guido who may even be making money out of their blog. And there are sad amateurs like me whose motivations may be many and various, but are unlikely to survive much scrutiny.

The professionals update their blogs on a daily basis or, even, like Guido, several times a day. I do not.

I try to wait until I have something that might interest you before I post.

Divorcing Reality: The Cats

Cats do not mind if you are a lawyer. Unlike dogs, they understand you and what you say. However, they always ignore what you say and do what they were going to do before you told them not to.

In fact, telling a cat not to do something is exactly like telling a litigator not to do something. "Gosh, that might be fun," the cat and the litigator think.

So they do it anyway!

Just to see what happens.

Oh, and Magna Carta

As an Englishman I do not require the protection of the Human Rights Act to say what I think.

I rely upon a meeting between King John and the Barons of England that took place at Runneymede on 15th June 1215.

It is an oversimplification to suggest that Magna Carta cured all evils but it is right to say again and again that governments that offend the ideal that those two words have long symbolised cannot be defended and must be brought down. It is every Englishman's duty.

Wikipedia has a presently useful entry on Magna Carta. This is only to be taken as true at 20:31 on 11th April, 2007. Wikipedia can become corrupted in an instant. Visit wikitruth.

There is a good article on the current UK government's attitude to Magna Carta in the Sunday Times of 8th April, 2007. Connect to Goodbye Magna Carta.

Updates

You have been reading the front page of this site. This will change over time but, if you are seriously insane, you can visit the Front Page Archives for previous versions. This is such a mad thing to do that there is no link elsewhere. It is less likely that you will be certified as lacking mental capaciy for seeking out new matters and a link is therefore included below.
