The Other Side
It is a long time ago that this site was supposed to be up and running. The biggest joke is therefore the difference between the target start date specified on the Old Construction Page ("OCP") and the real start date (which is not even today). The Red Squirrel Lawyer Joke can still be found there and the OCP link in the left panel is one of the one's that works. The OCP itself is very temperamental and predates any use by me of CSS.
The OCP is preseved in its original form simply because I know how many lawyers find the Red Squirrel Lawyer Joke offensive. Apparently, it is found to be very offensive by other professionals too. So offensive that my link to it from the firm's website was removed. Why do they find it offensive? I leave that for you to discover.
Those involved in neighbour disputes that end in the Court of Appeal or the House of Lords will, I think, get the joke but it is very doubtful if they will laugh, even if they were on the winning side.
In the English legal system there is a big bonus (not available in the US). The loser pays the winner's legal costs. Except, those costs have to be "assessed" by the court if not agreed. The usual recovery is in the range of 70-90%. Thus, even if you are certain that you are right, remember that you are still going to foot 10-30% of your own lawyer's charges.
What this Site is About ?
This site is about two things (possibly three). It is about the law (mainly in the blog) and it is about a novel I am writing called Divorcing Reality.
Other, peripheral, matters are also featured as you will see from the links.
One other important matter that this site is about (the third thing) is free speech. Thus the note below on Magna Carta. It is strange to describe a site as being "about" free speech, however. A site is an exercise of the right of free speech.
